Thumbs up to the Dollops garage in kitwanga. :)

“And then she was like, and I was like, and then he was like OMG!”  When will people stop using use the word "like" in absurd demonstrations of stupidity and verbal uncertainty? The way that some people, predominately adolescent girls, use the word "like" repeatedly in their best attempt to put together a complete sentence makes me want to chew barbed wire. This newest piece of verbal clatter is just the latest in a long line of idiot words that bulk up sentences and cut down people's ability to understand what you're saying. Before "like" came along, we had such classics as "you know," "well," and of course the king of all dumb words, "Uh." Now the young abusers of this word have somehow, "like," graduated. And they're naturally bringing this latest idiotic verbal tick to the workplace. I want to say to all of the people who like to say the word “like”, you will be adding to the unemployment numbers. No one in their correct mind will ever hire you. When you speak in this fashion you sound juvenile and uneducated. “Like” is a horrid linguistic crutch. It is the most annoying speech affectation in existence today. I hope that some of the people who have this annoying fixation will be able to successfully kick the "like" abuse habit. Perhaps they can police themselves by putting a rubber band around their wrist and snapping it every time they say the word “like”.  I'd like to be optimistic for the next generation in this regard. But, sadly, the ways we use our language will probably only get dumber. C’mon people…Smarten Up!!
