Throwing trash out of the window is inexcusable. These people have no respect for themselves or anyone else or their property.....and have no respect for the environment. They think other people's neighbourhoods are their personal trash containers. These are the same people who won’t think twice about leaving their trash in the seating area of an airport, leaving it all over at a company sponsored event, in a movie theatre, the list goes on. Just because it's convenient doesn't make it right. Littering not only annoys and disgusts me, but it is also a sign of just how rude, lazy and ignorant we have become in society as a whole. What causes people to throw trash out their car windows, anyway? Is there some psychological explanation for this behaviour? Is it bravado? Have they never stopped to think about what our town, country, world would look like if everyone dumped trash along the roads? Does it reveal a lack of something, such as the ability to feel any connection to other humans or any respect for the land? Who are these people who care so little about our neighbourhood, our city, our planet? As an environmentalist who cares about the only home we have, I make it a point never to do ignorant crap like that. People who purposely litter piss me off to no end! Just be responsible and throw it in the garbage on your next pit stop. How hard is that? I just can’t understand why people are so lazy to throw trash out the window. I have actually heard some people justify throwing out beverage containers as a "donation" to the elderly and others who go along roadsides to pick them up for deposit. Hello? If you're so darned philanthropic, why not turn them in yourself and make a cash donation! I have learned that I can't change other people or enforce my beliefs on them. I just do my part and set a good example for my children and others I encounter. I am glad there are litter laws, and I wish there were more ways they could be enforced. If you are one of the few “highway driving litterbugs” out there, do us all a favour. Smarten Up and Grow Up. Stop being so damned inconsiderate! "The land will take care of us, if we take care of it." There are garbage cans everywhere…Use them!
